IMO (entirely in my opinion at least), with a turbo car, you'd want to shift as little as possible. The stock gearing of a TT is good enough to keep you in the powerband as long as you selelct the proper gear. Closer ratios from a 6-speed would only mean that you'd have to shift once more, at which point you'd lose some boost.... I view this as unfavorable. That's just me though... I'll take the stock 5-speed over a 6-speed (even if it was the same price) on a turbocharged car anyday.
